Part One of 2018 Challenge Choices
I’ve been looking through my shelves and library catalog, making preliminary lists of books for the 2018 Reading Challenge
Below are my current choices for the first 6 categories.
The Big Bad (a book that is over 700 pages)
The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss The 2nd book in the trilogy. I’ll be reading this after my re-read of the Name in the Wind. The Wise Man’s Fear is normally categorized as Fantasy or Epic Fantasy. Still wondering when the next book will come out.
Noteworthy and Acclaimed (a book that is getting all the fuss)
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng I read Ng’s debut Everything I Never Told You this year and I’m looking forward to reading this one – even though I’ve seen some mixed reviews. Little Fires Everywhere is normally categorized as contemporary adult fiction.
Time Warp Read (a book set in the future or in the past)
Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. This is the third book in the Outlander series. Voyager is normally categorized as Historical Fiction, Romance and Fantasy. A perfect combination to escape the long winter.
It’s All About the Destination (a book that is set in a place you want to visit)
Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. This novel is set in Italy and opens in the year 1962, it is categorized as fiction and historical fiction.
First Things First (a book that is the first in a series)
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows This is supposed to be a hilarious take on historical fiction about Lady Jane Grey & King Edward the VI.
The Re-read (a book that you’ve read in the last 7 years)
Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss See previous post about this book.
